Felicia Doggett of Metropolitan Acoustics will present on Vibration Isolation. This presentation focuses on the theory of vibration isolation, proper techniques, as well as some case studies of problem situations and what was done to correct them.

This is a joint meeting with the Acoustical Society of America (ASA).

Presentation Description:

Structure-borne noise caused by rotating or vibrating equipment directly attached to a building can be at the very least a slight nuisance to the occupants of a building, or at worst, a serious disruption that makes the spaces unusable due to vibrating walls and floors and high sound levels.  Proper vibration isolation of air-handling units, chillers, generators, transformers and other equipment is often overlooked by engineers designing building systems or specified improperly.  This presentation focuses on the theory of vibration isolation, proper techniques, as well as some case studies of problem situations and what was done to correct them.
