Presentation Summary:
As the industry shifts to lower GWP A2L refrigerants, engineers must adapt to new safety standards and code requirements. ASHRAE Standard 15 has been updated to reflect the characteristics of these A2L refrigerants. This includes changes to refrigerant charge limit calculations, the addition of leak detectors and release mitigation controls, and the introduction to the concept of releasable charge. These updates affect variable refrigerant flow systems and how they are designed, manufactured, and installed. This meeting will cover the transition to A2L refrigerants and what it means for variable refrigerant flow systems.
