Presentation Overview:

Increased focus on sustainability and the environmental impact of energy
use has resulted in natural ventilation becoming an attractive option for
many buildings. Historically, most buildings designed in accordance
with ASHRAE Standard 55-2010 relied on natural ventilation to provide
fresh air and maintain thermal comfort. Design of traditional natural
ventilation strategies relies on the wind and buoyancy-driven stack
effects, to drive air flow through the building. Baker and Steemers have
found that the energy consumption of a naturally ventilated building can
be less than half of a fully air-conditioned, mechanically ventilated one.
With careful attention early in the design, a natural or hybrid ventilation
system can be a viable option for many systems and climates.

Matthew Bray - Engineering Manager - Price Industries

At Breathing Buildings, Matthew is involved with consultancy projects, the supply of natural and low energy equipment and building monitoring, all with the aim of reducing energy use in the built environment. Matthew began working for Breathing Buildings in January 2010, after completing a PhD in a novel spray technology at the University of Cambridge.

Chris Burroughs - Product Specialist – Price Industries

Chris Burroughs is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and as a Product Specialist in Price’s Sustainable Technologies division, is focused on Natural Ventilation, Displacement Ventilation and Underfloor Air Distribution solutions. Chris is actively engaged in product development, marketing and manufacturing for these systems.
